VIZAG - PART 3

A continuous drizzle welcomed us in Vizag and seemed to fall in love with us. We joked that it lessened when we were indoors but poured when we came out. Three days we walked in the rain, finally I decided to buy an umbrella as the rain got thicker on Thursday evening. We waddled in the ankle deep waters in some areas searching for a place to eat a non spicy dinner but had to settle for andhra biryani, or Hyderabadi biryani as it is called. Thankfully it came with a free bottle of Coca Cola to put out the fire.

Back to the rain... Amazingly we woke up to a bright sunny morning on Friday, so decided to venture out to the beach against advice by my friend back home. The beach was a beach... water, sand, a few broken shells, waves, horizon, a ship in a far distance, sound of the sea, but unlike Chennai and other beaches it was littered.  Sometimes back I had been thrown off gaurd by a Dutch project manager, who told me something about Indians (My friends know what he had said, others just should know it was very derogatory). It was proved correct when I saw the beach.

I tried not to soak my feet in the water. The sun was too strong to allow us more than an hour at the beach and we returned to the hotel for breakfast. I understood a lot of prayers had been said for the day to prevent rain when I attended the wedding in the afternoon.

My previous boss gave a speech in his unique humorous style acknowledging that God made him pray for a week at a stretch to make sure the wedding of his son went well. It did.

I just had time to snatch a quick lunch, run back to the hotel and catch the train for my return journey.

P.S  - I am thankful to the rain. Even though we were wet most evenings, my shoes were ruined, a friend caught a cold, we missed out on sightseeing....
I BOUGHT THE UMBRELLA.... Here it comes .....

(Thank you Aren for the foto)
