ARE YOU STILL THERE?

Once there lived a man,

Vain, conceited, full of pride,

His life, though jewelled by glorious deeds,

Love had not been on his side.

He was true, he tried being chaste,

He looked for signs of Cupid's strike,

But all bent on him for selfish needs,

None his innocent heart did like.

He longed for a friend true to him,

A girl who could stand by him,

Someone really willing to understand,

And like his every silly whim.

So, he lived full of hope,

Waiting for her to appear,

Everyday was a song of suspense,

Every night a tale of tears.

And then, after eternity she came,

Quietly, silently, without a word,

Time stopped, there was a pause,

Only two synchronised hearts were heard.

She took his hand and held it close,

He turned his face and wept,

He heard something of what she said,

And till the end like a promise kept.
