DESIRE - NONSENSE POEM

Desires are like dewdrops
Seeking the leaves of your heart
Settling and then drying in the sun
Yet some are most difficult to part.

These are tiny pearls most precious
Origin of all the things that are
These are the beads at eye corners
Hinting at failures, recent or far.
Desires are subtle ways of destiny
To force you to know your goal
Desires are cruel hands of time
Moulding you to match your role.
Desires attained are like
Wars won or life regained
Yet as a fire quenched or
Like a sea of its waters drained.
To wait and fight and suffer
Is all the charm that lies
In desiring an impossible dream
Which if achieved, it dies.

What in previous lines I said
What I really meant
Is that a man is alive till
The fire of passion is unspent.

And then...
There are those who desire
And yet they never taste
They too toil and suffer
But their efforts go in waste.
