The via dolorosa is a narrow passage from the place Christ was condemned to the burial place. If you walk along the way past the shops now selling souvenirs, you can never imagine how it must have been nearly 2000 years back. It is a very humbling experience to think why someone else would go through so much of pain and suffering giving up his life for someone else. Even though it is a congested busy bazaar, soon the noise drowns in the quiet of inner peace you experience as you walk the steps he took, and see the places where he suffered, fell, was rebuked tortured and finally crucified.
